It’s so easy to get caught up in Doing All the Things for our businesses. With prospects to call, newsletters to write and social media constantly tugging on our pants leg, it always seems like there’s something else to do and that we’re always on the clock.
Sometimes, we forget that we designed our business to support us. We forget that we have a relationship with our business. Somewhere along the way, we lost the romance. We’ve forgotten to woo this lovely little thing that we nearly killed ourselves to bring into the world.
We might have let To Do Lists and Shoulds get in the way of our joy and generosity. We may have even gotten a little resentful over scope-creep and cranky clients. We may have even gotten a little cranky ourselves.
So, when was the last time you courted your business? When was the last time you showered it with love, or surprised it by bringing home takeout?
When was the last time you wooed your business?
Beginning September 1, I’m launching an experiment to let you fall in love with your biz all over again. Give it compliments. Buy it chocolates. And let it love you right back.
Tell your customers how much they matter to you. Rededicate yourself to a project that you love but haven’t had time for. Reignite the spark of passion for your biz. Rekindle the simple joy in sending a handwritten note.
And open yourself up to whatever your biz might give you back.
- Each day, one of the brilliant entrepreneurs I’ve gathered for this little experiment will write a post on my blog about one way you can woo your biz (if you so wish).
- There’s obviously no requirements here to do every suggestion or even to do one of them. In fact, it’s fine if you just read along with us and let the ideas inspire you to allow in a little more peace and ease into your day.
- On Twitter and Instagram you can share anything you’re learning or thinking about with #lovingmybiz, and if you’re inspired to write a post about something you’re doing on your blog, please let us know! We’d love to read it.
